HealthSpring Expands Service Area in Alabama, Tennessee and West Virginia
Nashville, TN (PRWEB) August 23, 2011
HealthSpring announced today they have received government approval to offer a range of Medicare Advantage plans to an additional 243,000 beneficiaries in Alabama, Tennessee and West Virginia. HealthSpring is the largest coordinated care plan in the United States focused exclusively on Medicare Advantage, covering over 1 million members.
“We are very pleased with the afforded opportunity by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to offer more seniors better access to the high quality care they deserve,” HealthSpring President Mike Mirt said. “At HealthSpring, we are dedicated to serving the individual needs of each and every one of our members and know those on Medicare will value our personal touch and appreciate our extra benefits, cost savings and strong focus on prevention to help keep them active and healthy.”
HealthSpring’s unique model works closely and collaboratively with physicians to provide its members more access to high quality, coordinated care that is focused on prevention and total body wellness. As the largest health plan in the United States focused exclusively on Medicare Advantage, HealthSpring has developed an innovative approach that bridges the gap faced by many Medicare beneficiaries and ensures members receive all the traditional benefits of original Medicare and much more at an affordable price.
“Our physician engagement model offers additional resources to help support the patient-provider relationship, creating a better environment for all parties involved,” added Mirt. “We are looking forward to building collaborative partnerships with local providers so that we can deliver the best possible healthcare to our valued members.”
HealthSpring’s already robust provider network will add hundreds more primary care physicians and specialists, ensuring members flexibility and more choices for their medical care. Similar to existing coverage, plans will include dental and vision coverage, options with no monthly premium and other expanded benefits not covered by original Medicare.
HealthSpring currently offers coverage in a majority of Alabama and Tennessee counties but will extend service to Madison and Limestone counties in Alabama and Carroll, Chester, Crockett, Knox, Putnam and Sevier counties in Tennessee. In West Virginia, Part – C plans will be available for the first time in the counties of Boone, Jackson, Kanawha, Putnam and Roane.
Medicare beneficiaries can enroll in HealthSpring 2012 plans during the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period, which begins Oct. 15, 2011 and ends Dec. 7, 2011. For more information and full service areas, please visit http://www.healthspring.com.

This is a really good read for me, Must admit that you are one of the best bloggers I ever saw. Thanks for posting this informative article.
I hope Health spring can do a better job at managing my medicare than they did with my enrollment, they are really scewing the pooch on that. Their customer service/enrollment dept(s) leave a great deal to be desired. I am just thankful this will be secondary insurance for me, because my wife’s employer’s insurance covers me as my primary insurance. Thank God, because I’m holding my breath that Health Spring will be organized enough to process a claim for me in 2012. If they don’t clear-up the current enrollment issues they have caused things will get ugly. Hopefully I’m the one in a million cases, but from what I have experienced I doubt it. Good luck if you choose Health Spring!
