The calender year as well as laurenambrose.org’s first year online is drawing to a close.
2009 has been one of Lauren’s most eventful years. This year saw Lauren starring in a Broadway production, the release of her first Box Office #1 (yes, it counts) a foray into live music and a sprinkling of indie releases for good measure.
To end our first year online I’ve uploaded a batch of goodies. Some rare, some I’ve foolishly omitted in the past, but all new to the site.

I’ve just heard word on a possible new film project starring Lauren. An Entire Body is, as taken from the official website:
An Entire Body is an unflinching portrait of the daily trials and painful choices confronting America’s working poor. It truthfully dramatizes the experience of the struggling single mother – a segment of the population rarely represented with dignity on-screen – and does so with compassion and without a hint of moralizing. A forceful emotional experience that builds to a shattering climax, An Entire Body seamlessly merges closely-observed realism with taut suspense, resulting in a story that is as important as it is moving.
Based on five days in the life of Angela Jacobs, a single mother in Las Vegas who becomes pressured to give up her eight year old daughter in an under the table adoption.
Lauren is set to play protagonist Angela Jacobs. The film will be shot in Las Vegas and is currently in pre-production.

Where The Wild Things Are (finally) sees its theatrical release date today in the UK.
I myself managed to catch the fist showing at my local theatre. It exceeded even my lofty expectations. One of the most visually stunning and poignant pictures of recent years. – Thank you Spike Jonze!

The New Yorker online published their very own interview with Lauren yesterday. Here Lauren discusses how The Leisure Class came about in a little more depth:
How did you meet your bandmates?
I live up here, and I played a little bit with some of these guys in a different configuration, the Blue Ribbon Boys. And then a couple of them were interested in playing more jazz music. It was a little scary for me, but I thought, O.K., cool, let’s do it for the joy of singing and making music. So that’s the idea: it’s just a fun—a leisurely—activity.

When it rains, it pours! Interview Magazine’s Culture blog has just published an interview with Lauren shedding some more light on her New York singing debut at Joe’s Pub.
“We’ll play standards and covers of rock ‘n roll songs in our style,” says Ambrose, meaning Ragtime, Louis Armstrong-style jazz. If you can score a ticket to the already sold out show, be sure to listen for the band’s two original songs, “My Love, How Could You?” (”A really beautiful slow jam”) and the “jazzy, old-timey” “Reefer.” If not, no worries–they might be back sometime soon. “These guys are really like gypsies on the road all the time,” she says. “So I guess that’s where the idea of The Leisure Class came about because it’s truly a leisure pursuit.”
