As promised, I managed to grab a copy of September’s issue of ‘O’ Magazine where Lauren is featured in Oprah’s first ever ‘Power’ list. Lauren discusses the power of fear and how she utilizes emotion. A scan and the full article have been added to the gallery and press library respectively.

I enjoy playing roles that push me to my absolute capacity, emotionally and physically—that feel like a leap of faith. I often take a role without knowing what I’m supposed to do, what’s required of me. Figuring that out is a process, and for me that process starts with fear.

More information on the Banana Republic ad campaign from PR Inside including a sneak peak preview image now added to the gallery.

Banana Republic goes to the movies for fall. Hot on the heels of the brand’s spring music campaign, the creative arc of storytelling continues through film. The fall campaign uses the inspiration of film to connect consumers to the brand while focusing on signature products such as the white shirt, chino, suit, denim and trench. The timeless, cinematic quality of
these five iconic fashion favorites are featured on seven stylish actors including Lauren Ambrose.

Shot by photographer Richard Phibbs on location in New York City, around Schiller’s Liquor Bar in the Lower East Side and Hudson Studios, the campaign showcases the brand’s newest collection while highlighting the versatility of Banana Republic’s core wardrobe essentials. Developed with AR, Banana Republic’s advertising agency of record, the campaign will appear in September publications, supplemented by print, outdoor and direct mail, and debuts in-store beginning August 11. A series of campaign shorts featuring behind-the-scenes footage of the seven actors wearing Banana Republic’s Fall 5: the white shirt, chino suit, denim and trench will be released in targeted online outlets between August and September.

Seems like A Dog Year will finally see the light of day! The film starring Jeff Bridges and Lauren Ambrose is set for a September 3rd premiere on HBO.

The film centers around Jon Katz. A man having a mid-life crisis whose life turned upside down when he takes in a border collie crazier than he is.

Some surprising and exciting news from The Insider. Lauren is set to appear in the seasons upcoming Banana Republic film and print ads alongside a slew of other actors. From The Insider:

The movie actors will appear in short films made by Richard Phibbs on the streets of New York City and at Schillor’s Liquor Bar on the Lower East Side.

Simon Kneen, creative director and executive vice president of Banana Republic, said:

“The actors were chosen originally because we wanted to authentically capture a campaign grounded in film,”

For the next step of making movies Banana Republic partnered with Vanity Fair and Film Independent to sponsor “Project Involve: City Stories,”which consist of a series of 10 short films created by ambitious filmmakers.

Kneen said the brand was drawn to this cooperation, in part, “to support underserved, up-and-coming filmmakers and their work.”

I’ve updated to gallery with high quality DVD captures from the cult kitsch-tastic Psycho Beach Party. It is hands-down my favourite Lauren film and performance to date. Set in the surfing 60s, Lauren plays Florence ‘chicklet’ a 16-year-old who experiences inexplicable blackouts and fears that she may be responsible for the increasing deaths in her town.
