Oklahoma Car Insurance Lawyers at Atkins & Markoff Alert Public to Survey That Reveals that Oklahoma Drivers Pay Third-Highest Insurance Premiums in United States
Oklahoma City, OK (PRWEB) December 28, 2011
The Oklahoma car accident lawyers at the law firm of Atkins & Markoff, a law firm comprised of Oklahoma personal injury lawyers who provide legal representation to consumers who have been injured in traffic accidents and other legal matters hereby alert the public of the results of a survey completed by the Insurance Research Council. This survey concluded that Oklahoma motorists pay the third highest average premiums for full insurance coverage in the United States.
Specifically, this survey revealed that the average Oklahoma motorist who has full auto insurance coverage pays $ 2,197 per year to maintain full coverage. Only Michigan, at $ 2,541 per year and Louisiana at $ 2,453 per year pay higher average premiums for insurance coverage. Montana came in just behind Oklahoma at an average of $ 2,190 per year.
The Insurance Research Council explained its survey methodology as follows:
Our data from Quadrant Information Services sampled 10 ZIP codes and six carriers in each state, calculating rates on more than 2,000 new vehicles for a 40-year-old single male driver who commutes 12 miles. Coverage limits were $ 100,000 for injury liability for one person, $ 300,000 per accident and $ 50,000 for property damage, with a $ 500 deductible on collision and comprehensive coverage. The policy included uninsured motorist coverage.
This coverage cost has much to do with the risk drivers face, and the statistics regarding Oklahoma car accidents reveal that on an annual basis, more than 70,000 Oklahoma auto accidents occur. These crashes lead to approximately 36,000 injuries and to 700 fatalities. In addition, estimates indicate that nearly 20 percent of Oklahoma drivers are uninsured.
